Eyeliner Tattoo Aftercare

Healing takes approximately 7–10 days. How you care for your eyeliner during this time directly shapes your final pigment retention and safety.

I

Fluid Management

The first 72 hours · no cleaning yet
Keep Dry No water, sweat, or liquids near your eyes for a full 72 hours. Cleansing does not begin until Day 3.
Blot Lymph Your skin will produce a clear fluid (lymph) today. Every 1–2 hours, gently blot your eyelids with a clean, dry tissue — this lifts the fluid away to prevent thick, heavy scabbing. Dry blotting only; do not wipe, rub, or use any water.
No Cream Do not apply any ointment or cream on Day 1 or Day 2. Let the skin breathe and seal itself fully — cream begins Day 3.
II

Cleaning & Moisturising

Days 3 to 7
Cleanse Cleaning begins now — not before. From Day 3, gently wipe your eyes twice daily with a damp cotton pad and cooled, boiled water. Don't splash water directly on your face or rub the eyes. Pat dry with a clean tissue.
Cream From Day 3, apply a tiny rice-grain-sized amount of your aftercare ointment with a fresh cotton bud. The layer must be micro-thin — too much can suffocate the skin, trap bacteria, or blur vision if it melts into the eye.
What to Avoid
FOR THE FIRST 10 DAYS
No Eye Makeup

No mascara, eyeliner, or eyeshadow. Old makeup or brushes introduce bacteria and risk a serious eye infection.

No Picking

Around days 3–5 the liner will flake. Let it shed naturally — picking pulls pigment out, leaving blank gaps.

No Contact Lenses

Wear glasses for the first 3–5 days. Inserting contacts stretches the eyelid and risks introducing bacteria.

No Heat or Steam

No hot tubs, saunas, long steamy showers, or heavy sweaty workouts.

No Lash Serums

Discontinue lash growth serums for 4 weeks. No lash extensions until fully healed — at least 4 weeks.

Switch to Glasses

Give the eyelid time to settle without the daily stretch of applying and removing lenses.

What Is Normal
DURING HEALING

Swelling & Redness

Expect moderate swelling for the first 24–48 hours — it often looks like you've had a good cry. A clean ice pack wrapped in a zip-lock bag and paper towel will soothe the area.

The "Disappearing" Pigment

Once flaking finishes, the liner may look light or patchy. Don't panic — over the next few weeks the skin regenerates and the rich colour pushes back to the surface.
